i sure hope no 1 videoed it. i use to go up there 10 years ago and be in the top 3of class in 10 11 12lbs antique went up last year and got the chain tight on sled and was done. in shoot out well it wasnt that bad but what it felt like. i quess i got to get down in the old pockets. and spend some on tractors. and not just make donation to fair for being there.i just wish some where there was a pull were you plowed for 8 hours and then pulled that would separate the men from the show girls

Are the later model 1900's and 1950's allowed to play as well? Are the rules posted online any where?

They follow antique rules "SJ" & Del.- Cecil Co. combined rules. Remember model year prior to 1960. Unless it was production started in 1959,ie.Oliver 990's. The wt. class is 10,000 lb.
for the Detroit Shootout. 10 MPH speed limit. I would think it would be tough to enter a 1900 oliver in that Wt. class anyway.

I thought the speeed limit for the shootout was 7 MPH? Mine spun out--There may be enough Oliver 2255's in the area to have a CAT shootout-- Any interest? I can have at least 8 v-8 CATS there easily.

Hey Dave, you get them to get rid of the detroit shootout and I will pay for the trophies for a 2255 shootout. But you have to get rid of the boat anchor shootout.

I couldn't do it. I could never live with myself. Besides 10,000 isn't heavy enough I like the 12500 classes. When everybody pulls first gear.

Why are you so willing, to be a part of watching paint dry. Tractors Pulling at & 7 MPH are "THE CROWD PLEASER". First gear is for the boys that dust off there tractors and go pull at their local County Fair 'once a year' and cry the "LOUDEST WHEN THEY DON'T WIN". Futher more-complaining the rest of the year "NOBODYS STOCK".....

It has nothing to do with watching paint dry. My tractor only weighs 6200 pounds empty. I could pull light and go fast but thats not what I want to do. Anybody can lighten up a tractor and pull fast. That takes no skill. Find the proper balance, right air pressure, sweet spot on the track, now that is pulling. I pull a farmall 560 in 12500 obviously I'm not stock. I don't cry when I don't win either. Dave will tell you that I will also jump into a classic 13000 pound class knowing I have no chance to win but I have fun. I have been pulling my 560 for 3 years and have never been beat by a detroit.

A 560 going from 6200 lb. to 13,000 lb. class must look like a 'GYPISY' wagon pulling into town being pulled by a ole mule. What are you proving weighted that heavy. Whats the point? Your in a weight class that be in or around a classic 1466 IHC.....from the last of the Mohicans..... .

Why do you but pressed steel and 38 inch tires on your detroits? What are you proving? You can go back to putting down Jersey Devil for your name too.

The 10,000 pound class wouldn"t be a problem to make unless thee rules do not allow pressed rear rims. 8500 is done reasonably easy. Getting under 8000 takes some serious work. The problem would be the cutoff year for the 1950.

RIMS ARE NO PROBLEM, CUT TIRES NOT ALLOWED> AT CECIL CO., FAIR. SOUTH JERSEY RECENTLY ALLOWED CUT TIRES IN THE FAST CLASSES. BUT I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THIS TRACTOR WOULD BE A LITTLE OVER THE TOP TO PULL AT "THE DETROIT SHOOTOUT".

Not the prettiest, but I bet it can move the sled. There was a Super 99 that was sold several years atgo that was equipped with what I seem to remember was a 6V92 (non-turbo) that could probably keep up!

Any one ever video taped the Detroit Shootout?
