Well this weekends project is complete gear oil change on the long dormant Cockshutt 35 I just got running and I'd appreciate any tips to make the job go easy. I'm going to pull the belt pulley drive to have a look at tranny and see just how much sludge if any has accumulated, I will lightly grease the clutch forks and ring gear at same time,

Thanks Peter

Hi Peter,

If you have not replaced the brake pinion seals, you will want to first check the oil level and/or check for oil leakage/accumulation evidence under and around the brake covers. You do not want your new expensive oil to leak out.

Remove the three plugs..... ...trans, right side of hitch frame assy under rear end, and bottom of the PTO unit. Refill with EP 80 W 90 gear oil. With tractor on the level, remove side level plug on side of trans. (under floor tread, rear of clutch pedal).
Remove square topped plug on top of the PTO unit. Pour oil in until it reaches the level on the side trans. plug..... ....9.25 imperial gal./11.1 us gal.

Thanks Phil, I wouldnt have thought to check the brake seals .... makes sense to catch them now.
