I have a 770 and it shifts hard when its in a pull. You realy have to work the clutch to shift. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? It don't make any noises like a bad bearing. I just bought the tractor to restore.

I have a 64 model, that is also hard to shift out of gear after pulling something. I have power booster, so it always shifts out easily if I pull that lever back. I"m fairly new to this tractor, so don"t know if this is a characteristic of the model or not.

Yes, it is normal if you have the power booster. If you are going up a hill or have a load that will pull in the opposite direction of travel when you push the clutch in, it will be almost impossible to get it out of gear without pulling back on the power booster lever. Once you get used to it, you do it without thinking about it.

Thanks. I noticed that about pulling back on the power booster It shifted better. Just thought it might be something different like a clutch spring. Thanks again.
