Hi,

I have been shopping 2255's and came across a very nice 1855 (Cockshutt actually). Is this a good tractor and is there anything I should be especially wary of?

Thanks in advance!

Is this to play with or farm with, early or late model? Does the engine have the plate type oil cooler? Me 3 items I would do: one piece pin bushings, late rod bolts and seats in the head. They drive nice and run nice. Also some places in Canada removed the turbo from them.

This tractor will be used to farm 75 acres of fairly flat ground. It is actually a Cockshutt and says White in small letters so I think it is a fairly late model. I will ask about the plate type oil cooler. Thanks for your reply!

Our dealership took in a John Deere 4020 on a trade on a new 1855. Dad laughs about seeing the JD dealer drive slowly past the Oliver dealership with Awe that one of his customers would do that.

When the 1855 first came out they had engine issues. With the updates John mentioned they became good tractors. If this tractor your looking at has survived without the updates that would be the first thing I would do. Odds are that it has the updates or it has not been worked very hard.

I know I am biased, but I think an Oliver is always prettier and better than any John Deere!
