Anybody have an idea of how to take the front crank pulley off a Buda 6B230 engine (Cockshutt 40)? Christmas we had 51 degrees in Central MO.
Everybody have a good New Year and thank you.

Hi BacMan48,

You have received good advise here from others on removal. They are usually difficult to remove. If you are founutate to get it off without damaging it beyond use, it will probably need a speedi-sleeve.

I have new pulleys on stock and all the parts that you will need.

Had a worn, bent one on my 30, after getting the nut lose, came off with some "gentle help" was junk anyway. Had a new repro type like Phil sells, easy fit no more oil leak. It was 80$ plus, solved the pulley wobble and oil leaking around the worn original. The 40 pulley should be the same one. I would replace the front seal at the same time.

I had the same problem on my 30. Made a puller with a 1 inch piece of pipe and welded it to the hub of the pulley. It came off but still ruined the pulley. I will have to look into one of those pulley's that phil sells. Has anybody used one of these and what is the cost?

You may want to build a puller like this or have it built and using a bottle jack to remove the pulley. You need to use a split bearing puller behind the pulley to keep from breaking it. Hal

Curse vigorously and try to carefully get behind it on both sides and try to pry it off, If that doesn't work, ruin it and call Phil Heisey he has new ones in stock according to his catalog. Good luck! A good 3 jaw puller may work but the factory pulleys are pretty flimsy. I ruined one on my 30 but had a spare.
