Hydraulics lift any load just fine but will not
hold the load in the up position very long but
begins to bleed off & start to lower. What say
ye, fellow 8N owners??

Offhand, I'd say your lift piston needs a ring job.Remove the right side cover and see if there is an inordiante amount of fluid running down from the upper regions. If there is not, it may be a worn or dirty control or exhaust valve or seat letting fluid seep through.
Removing the hydraulic cover and honing the cylinder is not too terribly difficult. You might consider using a later model NAA piston with o-ring and washer rather than the 8N piston with steel rings.
