I need to conferm with everyone who has torn their hydrolic systems apart. Is the lift control arm (#84 in the IT manual) straight as in the manual or curved foward on the end approx 1 inch toward the pump as mine is. I'm suspecting mine is bent but need to be sure.

Thanks Mike H

I have a similar problem. With orientation looking from the back of the 8N and down on the arm as it hangs, my lift control arm is not bent front or back but slightly to the left. I don't know if this bend is to tighten any linkages or if the result of abuse. The dowel pin was badly bent. The linkages aren't real tight but they dont have a lot of play either. Should I leave as is and check the setup after I get the lift cover replaced or go ahead and put all parts back in proper order and adjustment? I have an idea that the arm can break if not bent back with the proper technique. Many thanks!

The arm is to be straight it seems that alot of them were pourposly bent as a means to adjust the system but when people did this the arms would not lower all the way down Roger

I kinda had a feeling that was it, which would explane why the position control rod was way out of adjustment. Thanks Zane and Rodger.. Mike

The control rod is supposed to be straight all the way down. It is a common practice to bend the rod forward when the linkage becomes worn too much to attain the correct adjustment of the linkage.

I ain't sayin it's right and I ain't sayin it' wrong but that is the way it is.

You can straighten the rod back to it's original shape but you may not be able to get it to work without replacing some of the linkage components with new parts.
