I've seen a lot of posts in the past about a front mounted blade for snow removal. What about adapting a blade for a "four wheeler" (they sell em up to 6 ft wide) to an N. I think "ALL YOU'D HAVE TO DO" is figure out how to mount the darn thing. Just a thought. Actually I'm hoping someone figures out how to do it for I'm starting to build a new house in the spring and will have a long driveway. Let someone else be the guinea pig right. David

Just came back from a neighbor who has had what i thought was an 8N sitting in his field with a backhoe on it. Grass growing up all over it. Anyway, turns out the 8N was a 1931 Fergason with a serial number of 1243, I believe (etched on metal plate just above steering wheel).

Also, he had a 4' front blade mounted on the some sort of homemade underbelly frame, as well as the tractor casing. This belly frame also supported the backhoe (turns out he broke the entire transmission casing in half using the backhoe, once. He essentially broke his tractor in half. Anyway, he picked it up and welded it together...and it worked!)

There is some sort of hydralic pump coming out of the bottom center of the front (he modified the grill) ,and a resoivor on the rt. side. He said that everything worked well, but it sure looked "unoriginal," to say the least. It was downright ugly. But I guess if it works...

There is an old front blade arrangement that raises and lowers with cables running from the
front to the three point. I was at a salvage/parts/restoration/collectors yard today and was told there were dozens of them in a shed - I didn't look and it was the owners friend that told me about them, but based on everything else that was there, dozens may be only a slight stretch. There seemed to be a fair selection of loaders as well. The guys name is Palmer Fossum
and he is just a bit outside of Northfield,MN.
Time just flew while I was there it was great!
His phone is 507-645-8095.
He did not have the headlights I was looking for,
but the trip was well worth it anyhow.

Just picked up a front mount Dearborn angle dozer blade for $200 It is in excellent shape, rusty but a $7 can of paint and some sand paper and it will be as good as new. I think I got a good deal on it. Not to sure cuz I have never heard of any one buying one before. The guy also has a 3pt cultivator $150 and tire chains $100 not sure if I need them though. Anyone have any idea what they are worth? I'd really like to know. Email me your email address & I will send you pic of how it works. Pretty cool

$100 sounds cheap for tire chains. They go for between $250-$450 new (depending on style). $165 is the best I've been able to find used.

$100 chains are worth every penny when you're up to your axle in snow. I was REAL lucky and bought an old set from my retired neighbor for $75.
