I'm new to these delightful 8n's so I thank all of you for the great mechanical insights I've been reading. My concern is an oil leak. I notice a few small drops of oil on the grarage floor coming from what looks to be around the lower front pulley. Is this something I should look into? How serious is this?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

A few drops in how much time? I'm inclined to say don't worry about it, just keep an eye on your oil level. It's probably the front seal for the crank, which is not particularly difficult to replace, but I wouldn't go tearing the tractor apart for that chore alone. I'd piggy-back it with another task that really warrants dropping the pan. A few drops of oil from a 50 year old machine ain't bad!

Mine is about the same. I look at it as the tractor is not leaking but just marking it's territory. :^)

Have fun and be safe,
