If the tractor is all-original and intact(no missing parts, no damaging add-ons)then it's probably worth that, if it can be made to run. Figure the bush-hog is worth around $500 + or -. A 1940 9N is getting to be more of a rarity with only around 35,700 or so made that year. If it hasn't been mucked-up and seems to be intact, it might be worth an offer. Some questions about details: What kind of grille and its condition? Are there any aluminum sheet-metal parts? Is the ignition key on the right or left? Is the battery door hinged, or does it snap in? Does the engine have freeze plugs? Do you know the serial #?

Wick- I have a '44 2N and I know it is worth that much and more. Why just the mental health benefits of working on it probably keep me out of therapy. I keep hearing of all these screaming deals where people buy N's for $500 to $1,500 but if these happen it is the exception and not the rule. If you are mechanically inclined, you can get a feel for the tractor; if not check Tractor Town on your left and search for folks near you. They can also say if the price is fair and/or reasonable.
