Does anyone remember who it was besides Genesee products that sold the electronic ignition kits here at YT? Or was the ad for $ 59.95 kits a dream I had? Also is there a front mount kit in the works anywhere? I have some helpers who just love to leave the ignition on when they can't figure out how to start a 2N... And I am getting very tired of buying point sets and coils..... Thanks!

My sidemount is happy with the 1978 Toyota Corolla electronic ignition and it starts at the first bump of the starter. I found the solution in the links off of BG's web page.

There's also the 6V or 12V question. They do advertise a 6V version, but be careful. It's not guaranteed to work on less than 4.5V. This is just a guess, but most electronic ignitions are powered by a small Motorola chip, designed specifically for this application, an ASIC. Application Specific Intergrated Circuit. It's designed to operate on a 12V system, but over a large range of voltages. Using it "as is" on a 6V is very limiting. The 4.5V limitation is just not practical, IMHO. I looked at this and felt the simpliest solution involved using a voltage doubler to source the IC. My 2 cents is leave a 6V ignition as is, at least until a better electronic one comes out. However once the leap is made to 12V, stand back! All sorts of possibilites open up then.

P.S. Pertronix makes them too. Not sure if it's the same as Genesee.
