2N Wiring

I recently purchased a 2N (1945). Well, the wiring is a complete mess...original parts bypassed/missing, wires spliced, an 8V battery, and on and on. I have decided to just start fresh.

The reason for my post is what exactly is the "manually actuated starter switch?" It's been bypassed and the only reference I can find to it is at N-Series in their wiring diagrams? I can't even find it in the Ford parts manual. Does it need to be replaced? If so, where can I find one?

Thanks,
Mike

THE ORIGINAL STARTER SW IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE SHIFT LEVER. YOU SHOULD USE IT AND NOT THE PUSH BUTTON STUFF ON THE DASH. THE ORIGINAL SW HAS AN INTERLOCK SO THAT YOU CAN NOT ACTUATE THE STARTER UNLESS THE SHIFT LEVEER IS OUT OF GEAR. YOU NEED ALL OF THE SAFETY FEATURES YOU CAN GET. YOU CAN FIND A REPLACEMENT AT FNH OR ON THE NET. GOOD LUCK

...And that may not be the actual name for it. It's ~2" round, has two ~1/2" bolts sticking out of it, and it's mounted directly under the battery box. If the "manually actuated starter switch" is nothing more than a push-button switch then I don't know what I am looking at on the tractor.

I've got an 8N, so I'm not experienced with this switch set up, but looking at the diagram indicates that this was the precursor to the starter button/ solenoid set up.Might be able to
use it. Just check for continuity.
