This weekend while cutting grass I found oil spewing out of the oil breather cap.

Thought there might be an oil filter problem, so I went ahead and changed the oil and filter. Cleaned the cap filter.

It's Still doing it. Any ideas?

Appearently your internal engine pressure has just taken a significant increase. As long as you don't have too much oil in the crankcase, you must have a fair amount of excess blowby to "spew" oil out the breather. I would recommend a compression check to look for an obviously low cylinder.

Tractor On!

You got your cap on right? And are all it's innards there?

The cap is also the crankcase fume exhaust. Engine blowby gets out here. Precluding a sudden change in blowby quantities, it's quite possible to make the engine leak oil by having something wrong with the cap.

The notch vent goes uphill side, towards the engine block. This helps the liquid oil drain back into the crankcase, and not out onto the ground. Also, there is a baffle/and or screen system (forgot what exactly) designed to catch the oil, while letting the fumes go on by. If that isn't there, or is dirty or such, it cannot do its job, and would allow engine oil to escape with the fumes.

Mine does this also, however I have been cutting my grass with it for two years now, compression is 110 approx on all, has all kinds of power , does'nt use oil etc.
I rolled up a pc of window screen and shoved it down the oil fill tube and it blows no more oil out the cap.
I could'nt see tearing it apart if it works as well as mine does.

A valve job got rid of 75% of my blow by, a complete overhaul is in the works.
