a battery. What would happen if I jumped a 6v battery using my trucks 12V. Thanks craig

Well, Hiroshima and Nagasaki come to mind... However, if you want to jump start your 6 volt tractor with a 12 volt battery, then that is a different story. You would connect one of the jumper cables to the starter solenoid on the starter side. (Not battery side) and touch the other jumper cable to a good chassis ground. Polarity does not matter. The starter solenoid isolates the 12 volts from the 6 volt battery. Safety precaution - Make sure the tractor is in neutral... The key must be on to start the tractor and there must be sufficient current in the 6 volt battery to run the ignition system. Do not engage the solenoid with the start button while doing this.
