Hello N-Board,

Luck was with me today. Seven months after beginning to rebuild my 8N, I started it up today. It turned over twice and then fired right up. I was surprised and amazed. I never expected it to start right up - my wife said "oh, ye of little faith"...

Oil pressure looks good...35-40 lbs, didn't drop much after it warmed up. Engine is quiet and idles down nicely. Sounds like it has power.

The very loud whine from the transmission is gone...found out from my brother-in-law that my wife's grandfather had run it with the wrong tranny fluid and ruined the transmission bearings...it really howled.

I didn't see any obvious leaks. Can't drive it yet because I put new tie rods on and they are way out of alignment.

Only problem I noted is that the hydraulics don't work...well, you can't have everything. They worked before and I'm sure they will again, just got to do some troubleshooting. PTO works fine.

I'm feeling very satisfied right now, with the 8N, with my novice success, and with this board.

Thank you all very much for the help.

I love these success stories!

The hydralics take a while to pump up the first time back together, I bet they work given some time to pump the air out. If the PTO is turning let it pump awhile.
