I know what you mean about the can't sleep bit. I'm an agnostic, anorexic, dyslexic, insominiac. I lie awake at night, hungry, wondering if there really is a dog>-)!

Hey Brian, You got a really nice looking tractor.
But I noticed an oil leak on the rear wheel
Looks like a rear axle seal or brake fluid (Just constructive comment)Its still a good looking tractor. Gaylord(Pa)

Yeah, it had that leak when I bought the tractor last fall. I've got that axle seal leak on the "to do" list whenever the weather warms up this spring. I just finished the 12 volt conversion on it last week, and it works flawlessly. I'll take some pics of my alternator bracket soon, so the guys contemplating doing the conversion can see how I made my bracket. Making the bracket is truly the most difficult part of the conversion (and that only took about 2 hours or so in the workshop.) Total, I think I paid about $108 for the conversion, that includes the alternator and battery, replacing the headlight bulbs and a new rear worklight (I couldn't find any bulbs that would fit the original rear light that was on the tractor), new wire and connectors, and the RU-100 voltage reducer so I could still use the 6 volt coil. If yours is a working tractor, and you aren't that concerned about originality, I highly recommend the 12 volt conversion. I can now run the lights at night and not be concerned that the battery would be dead when I parked the tractor back in the shed. Go for it!

Keep on N'ing :-)

Brian

I fixed my rear light by drilling and prying out the old socket. I then bought a replacement socket at Auto Zone and brazed it into the light housing by using a brazing rod and mapp gas. Works fine. Be sure to remove all the lenses before you heat it up.

Just put a little HTML in the text field....

That's an older picture, I just finished my 12 volt conversion on it, so the generator has been replaced by a shiny new alternator...
