This from my local newspaper (Hanover County Herald-Progress): "Jason Jukes and Brandon Terry of Atlee High School's chapter of Future Farmers of America placed first in the Centra Area Tractor Mechanics Career Development Event. They will compete against the state's four other area winning teams in September. The event involves a written test, analyzing tractor problems and tractor repair."

Their winning project? The restoration of a Ford 9N tractor. There is only a b&w picture of it in the paper, but it looks pretty good to me. I think it might even appeal to ole bg's critical eye (grin).

Nice to read stuff like this instead of high school punks killing classmates and teachers.

This can be a good fund-raiser for FFA or 4-H clubs. Find a tractor that someone will donate or sell cheap. Then scrounge new and used parts, do the work, learn something and then sell the tractor. The merchants who donate parts and services can get advertising and the club makes money, say at a benefit auction. It needs to be promoted as a community effort for the furtherence of the club ideals and projects.

Can you get one or both of those 2 boys to write us a little message about what they did, where they got the tractor, how long it took them etc etc etc. The FFA Advisor might be a good contact.
Tell them "enquiring minds want to know".
