I've got a 1947 2N.

I can see where the ford oval emblem fits since there are holes in the hood (I'm not sure why the available options for that emblem are either a blue oval ford or a cast aluminum metal color oval).

But my question is do the 2Ns have that ferguson system emblem on the grill also? If so how does that thing mount on there, I don't have any holes in the grill, and it's the original grill to the tractor.

Still mysterious.

I've got the 8n style grill with the two tabs at the top sides.

The tractor is a '47 2N and my grandfather bought it used from the Ford dealer also in late '47. The dealer probably painted it to match the 8Ns that would have just come out at that time.

I have no idea why this tractor has the ford script rear fenders and an 8n front grill. I could see the dealer putting on an 8N grill, but how'd the script fenders get on there. Since they apparently didn't even exist yet.

If there had been a problem with the rear fenders or the grill after he bought it, I can guarantee my grandfather wouldn't have bought any replacements, on top of that he'd have remembered it.

The 9n- 2n grills were diff from the 8n grills. The 2n grills have three pins along the top of the grill that sticks up into the hood to hold it in place. The 8n grills have two spring loaded latches that hold the grill in place.Script fenders didn't come out until about serial number 273xxx. don b

I know where you are talking about, however I have no holes there.

My grandfather bought this tractor used in late 1947 from the local ford dealer. It had been painted red on the belly before he bought it, you can see the 2N gray under that now (I haven't gotten to painting it yet).

The rear fenders have the Ford script on it, which according to the identification places say weren't around at that time. I asked my grandfather if he was sure of the year he bought it and he was, his memory is fine. He named the land he bought with war bonds and when he built his house and got the tractor to clear the land.

I asked if he had ever replaced the fenders and he said no.
It's a mystery.

In the center of the grill you should see two verticle slots that extend half way down. At the the top were they begin there is a small hole in the center. This is where the emblem goes.
