1954 NAA - On the right side of the block - behind the coil and about an inch or so forward of the dipstick hole - is a hole (about 3/8" diameter) into the block. Never noticed it before because the coil was in front of it. Started the tractor up this morning to charge up the battery and noticed that there was oil coming out of the hole. Checked my 1939 to 1953 parts book (page 74) and it shows a hole in that location. Can someone tell me why the hole is there? Hole doesn't seem to have any threads so it must of had a plug of some kind in it.

Does your NAA plow better than the 8N. I live in snow country and have a 2n but Iam in the process of rebuilding a 54NAA.

I like the NAA better to plow with because of the live hydraulics - have a Dearborn front blade on it and remote hydraulics. The 8N has a Wagner loader with a blade and it's a pain in the butt to get on and off when you have arthritus in your knees.

Duke, you are describing the camshaft lube hole that was there to bore camshaft bore surface,I think. It has a seal packing much like a pencil eracer and a small cone shaped welch plug that drives in to keep seal in place. This can be had at a New Holland dealer. EAF66025A plug and EAF66045A seal. HTH

Thank you for the information. Will take a trip to the NH dealer Monday. Big snow storm coming tonight - guess I'll have to plow it with the 8N.
