I'm looking for some advice on the hydralic system on my 2N... I dragged the tractor from the woods in northern MN where it had been sitting for 4 or 5 years. Just finished a successful engine rebuild, and since the front half is back in order I have tackled the rear. The arms raised slowly with little lifting power, so I inspected (under the inches of sludge)and found one piston assembly in pieces with the pistons hammered into the side covers. I have scrounged used covers and piston assemblies, etc. but when I went to install the valves (poppits?) I found one cover different from the other... I have one where there is no hole at the bottom of the valve chamber to insert the rod into. It is marked 9N. I carefully assembled the valves, springs, etc. and the rod is centered by the other parts... Is this going to work? or do I need a different valve assembly? or do I need a different side cover? Any advice is appreciated...

One other thing: What oil? I know 80/90 Ford is recommended, but I have been advised to use 30wt non-detergent here because of the cold winters... I may run the 30wt for a while to loosen up the remaining sludge and then change it. Thanks!
