Ok guys I need to pull the lift cover off and replace the gasket. Is this pretty easy? What does the manual mean about spreading the forks through the left inspection cover hole? Is there a trick to getting those forks back in place or do they just go back? Thanks!

Dave, I have nothing more to tell,
Only one thing now it is not necessary to put a new gasket, you can only put some seal paste witch is enought.
Good luck.

I am working on the same thing on my 9n. It is a pain in the #$%. I had toremove both side covers and reach across and through the left side and the right and flex them open to get it out. I imagine that putting it back is going to be a real treat. I am trying to think of a way to put some sort of spreader in there that I can pull out when I am done. This fork is way down at the bottom and there are two dimples that slip ofer the control valve.

Dave,
The forks attach directly to the control valve on your hydraulic pump. Do not pull up on the lift cover until you have disconnected the forks.
On my 2N the forks are held in place by inward spring action. There is no spring, the fork is narrower than the "T" attachment on the control valve. When I replaced my control valve I could not get enough leverage or the correct angle to spread the fork back on to the "T" from the inspection hole. I ended up inserting a long screwdriver up through the drain hole and pushing on the fork leg to spread it open far enough to fit. Good Luck!!
