This guy says his 9n has a turbo. He also says " The power take off is not the small one that the Ford's have but it is the big one or regular size." What's he talking about?

not sure how he arrived at it having a turbo, a couple of years ago a friend and i looked at building a turbo setup on his 8n, he had the turbo off a 4 cly ford mustang from 1979 to use, we really couldnt find a satisfactory way to plumb this thing up, and decided that even if we could somehow put it togeather,it would A be very expencive and time consuming, B since the flathead n engine is a low rpm engine it would not spool the turbo up enough to provide usable boost, and if we overcame all that and found a way to get it to provide boost somehow, the head gasket would not last long since its not designed for those pressures, project scrapped, not the n, just the idea

I have a Cyclone on my 52 8n. I end up with quite a bit of dirt and debris every time I mow.

I have no clue how he comes up with a turbo on a 9N, but the PTO is simply a replacement shaft with 1 3/8 spline as opposed to the original 1 1/8 inch. Maybe he's talking about the air cleaner - some do have a turbo action to spin the heavy stuff out before it gets to the oil.

I have seen the "cyclone" air cleaner attachment that a few N"s had. I don"t know how many were made, or if they work all that well.

I have a Cyclone air cleaner on my 9n and Funk 8N, by the amount of dirt they catch, i'd never run without one. here's the one on the 8
