The right side brake on my 2N works fine ,it returns to the original position after it is pressed. i.e springs back like it is suposed to. The problem is that the left side does not. It seems to not have any pressure to spring back. There is not any resistance. Could this be just an adjustment problem? Also what does everyone agree on is the best oil to use in the hydraulic system/ gear box? Thanks for any help. This site is great!!!

Hi Dave, this is indeed a great site because of the many great people that share here. You ask "Could this be just an adjustment problem? "
More likely I guess would be a broken spring. You would have to pull the axle and drum to check it. Not that hard mostly grunt work as they are heavy.
"Also what does everyone agree on is the best oil to use in the hydraulic system/ gear box?"
That debate may go as long as these old tractors!:-) I have included a link below to one such debate from the archives of this forum. If you have not yet done so, may I suggest taking a little time to explore the archives. They contain a wealth of information. Hope this helps.
