Any ideas on how to extract a large boombox portable stereo out of a disker, without perforating the woofer?

Don't pretend you've never had a problem like this.

No "heavy metal" puns, please.

No reason why a cabless tractor has to be without music.

Dear monomechanical,

Ahha! Someone who finally thinks like me!

I do my tractor playing in Central Minn, where we have a very large Hispanic community. Several of my Hispanic acquaintances have some impressive sound systems in their souped up trucks to listen to their Latin oompapa music (which is actually very similar to the Swedish oompapa music of my grandparent"s days). I hold some envy, and have thought that maybe I should get trebles, bass, and subwoofers on my Eleanor ("49 8N). You can get DC/AC converters for solar electric homes, so maybe one could be set up for the 6V charging system on an N. I"ll let you know if I make any progress. I have visions of logging with this huge sound system attached to the 3pt. I think this is brilliant, because it leaves the clevis free for dragging. :-)

Brilliant idea. Lets market a little "sound wagon" which could be pulled behind the disc or planter or fertilizer wagon. Something with two wheels but lots of speaker stacking spaces. Of course, the speaker-stack would have to pass under power lines and bridges . . . You'd have to have the wagon on shocks or springs, but that's ok. And a little crane for moving components? As for power: Why not drive a generator off of the PTO, or if that's occupied, a belt driven pump? I'll see about raising capital.

I went next door to consult with the monkey about this. The first thing he did is make some crude heavy metal joke. So I just left. He went back to watching american idol which I missed again.

If you can seperate the treble from the bass, I think there might be enough room to get the mid-range out and then..... ..keep your cell phone in a secure place!!!

i just gotta do this, i cant stand it any longer..first no, you cant get it out undamaged unless you can carefully unhitch the tractor then lift the discer with a loader or similar and the boom box just happens to fall free, 2nd, and i shouldnt have to say this but, DO NOT get under the discer to retrive the stereo when its up in the air!!!! 3rd you do realize that they make a really neat thing called a walkman, that way the neighbor 5 miles to the left doesnt have to listen to your music too

That explains it of course. I just got a Walkman...

(Hey, my tractor was built in 1952 and my stove in 1951. I usually just sing to myself! LOL)

Thanks for the advice. As for not going under the disker, are you suggesting I couldn't bench press a two row double disker? And as for that "use a walkman" bit. Where have you been? Don't you mean "ipod"? Anyway, I use a boombox because I like it when the bass rattles the cartilage on my sternum. I just assumed the neighbors five miles away like it to. Better ask.

"because I like it when the bass rattles the cartilage on my sternum."
I've found that removing the spring and bolting the pan seat directly to the tractor accomplishes the same thing without all the racket.

Check the Research and Info Section under "tune-up specs." Oh wait, it's not referring to your type of tunes.

Yep wallets and tractors don't mix well. Also loose tools and tractors don't mix well. Best place for wallets etc is on the shelf in the house

So that's why my credit card bill has been so high of late. I've been putting off things like cavity fillings and much needed "presentable" office clothes in favor of my romance with tractor parts. IMHO, one has to prioritize the important things.

suspenders in a mauve? in reply to Empennage, 05-10-2006 19:03:18
Emp: I prefer, in my "field-clothing," a mauve rather than a red. Lavender or plum in the silk plowing shirt. Sometimes a coral color, depending on my tractor-shoe wear. Anything in those colors? Of course, black if the tran. is stuck.
