My father passed away in july of 06. Left was an old ford 8N tractor. Having a hard time finding an exact year and price of what it is worth. There was a plate on the side reading
NJ 208. Any help would be appreciated.

Carloyn,

I am sorry to hear of your dads passing.

After you have looked at John Smith"s web page for identifying Ford tractors, the other thing that will be important will be your location. State and general area, N, NE, Central, etc. will be close enough.

Click the link below to go to John"s site. He has a picture showing the serial number location. Even if you cannot read it, the rest of John"s page will give you clues as to the approximate age. The EXACT age is really not as important as many people try to make it since most 8N"s are very similar. Critical things will be; how many forward gears, brake pedal arraingement, size of rear hub, location of spark distributor, proofmeter or not, and does it have a six volt battery or a 12 volt battery with an alternator. Many of these things are shown on John"s site.

Regards,
Larry

There is a serial number on the block next to the oil filter canister. its stamped in there kind of light. you may have to clean the number with steel wool to see it. www.8nford.com is a helpful sight for your current need.
