Just unpleasantly high so far. Not even an inconvenience to most folks judging by how many leave the engine running while filling their tank or slipping into the Quick Trip for a cold one. Gas Guzzlers are still selling well too. I don't see signs of any thought about conservation yet. At this rate, we will always be beholden to those you have the oil. Maybe when it gets to $3.00. Anybody out there changing there driving habits yet? My 2¢ Steve - 8N 169302

.."bout a buck and sixteyfive here in OHIO. But we also have the "special" gas thats not going to pollute. They charge more 'cause they can. I know we are a lot more careful, no wasted trips. If we don't get it when go into town we do without for a while. regards

Yeah or we can drill in the Artic National Reserve and force OPEC to lower prices since they are the ones controlling it. The only control we have over them is NOT buying gas from them, since we are their biggest buyer. Get oil inside the US and then become less dependent on OPEC making them realize if they want to sell crude, they need to lower prices.

After converting from litres to imperial gallons , then from imp gallons to U.S. gallons, then from Cdn dollars to U.S. dollars, I pay $1.67 per gallon in your terms. As a point of interest, it went up 20 cents per gallon yesterday alone. Natural gas is going to be more than double next year and we get to -40 Farenheit on a regular basis. I may have to sell the 8n to pay for heat! Just kidding, I would just move to a warmer climate.

If what I read recently is true, the largest amount goes for taxes. Something like 57%. Then there is the cost of government regulations. Next comes the oil company profits and the filling station owner gets the least and sometimes sells at cost.

Saw a sign two days ago $1.99 & $1.79 here in Northern CA. And there are five refineries within twenty miles of here.

Anyone a member of the V8 Foundation here? Just got thier newsletter yesterday. The first gas station opened on Dec. 1 1913. Gas cost $.27 a gallon then. They say that equates to $21.00 at todays money. I buy my gas on the Res. $1.39 here in western NY.

Dave - you're lucky to live close to the reservation. When I lived in Collins, it was the only place I bought my gas. Now I live in Holland (NY, that is) and am paying $1.68/Gal. It's going to hurt the wallet pretty soon, and one cannot tell me that these high prices will not trigger inflation sooner or later!

Blessings All,

Hi Mark. I live on top of the west hill in Boston, NY. 17 miles to where I get gas. I smoke a pipe and I can save $9.00 on a can of tobac on the res. so it makes it worth while for me to go over and get gas and a couple of cans of tobac. Ill have to look you up in the phone book. Do you know John K. from Leo Martin Ford a good friend of mine? Going Fishing with him next weekend.

Pretty good sense of humor for a gas station owner.

Thank you Greg for posting a question that I can answer. In Chicago, the discount stations are asking $1.99 for reg and I've seen $2.19 at some.
We pay more, not only because of more tax but also because we have to buy reformulated gas. To protect the enviornment you know.
