can anyone tell me if I can use a tool box from a 8n tractor on a 9n tractor? Looking at pics it seems the box should work in the same spot, but I don't know if there is a mount needed to put a tool box on.

Jeffery..... .....All N-tractor toolboxes were DEALER INSTALLED.

The slant-back 8N-toolbox uses special "nut-plates" that are factory installed in the 8N-dashpanel brackets. Your 9N/2N dashpanel does NOT have these nutplates.

The rectangular 9N-toolbox is slightly different from the 2N-toolbox. But both mount to the side of the battery support tray along side the steering gearbox.

There is NO LAW that sez you can't make your own mounting scheme to install enny-metal box enny-whars you want to. 30-cal machinegun ammo-boxes were quite popular at one-time. But I don't think you'll be happy trying to fab-up some brackets to mount the slantback 8N-toolbox in yer 9N. Your tractor, your dollar..... ...Dell

...uh...sorry Mr. Dell, but the toolboxes were NOT dealer installed options....they were part of the original factory installed equipment. Some tools were options later on as the kits dwindled over the years with a new tractor. The 9N; 2N; 8N; and NAA toolboxes were all different and specifically made for their Model.

Are you sure that the toolboxes for 2n tractors were dealer installed? There's a photo on e-bay showing tractors coming off assembly line in 1944 and they have the toolboxes. Just wondering.
