Steering Sector Overhaul

I have a hybrid 9n body with a 2n engine. Both steering arm sectors have a lot of wobble and leaking oil badly. From reading the I&T shop manual this repair looks fairly straight forward. From the amount of play and leaking oil I expect to be replacing several parts before I am done. Can someone tell me if it is as easy as it looks and an estimate on how long it should take? This is my first significant repair and I want to be able to allocate enough time to start and finish the job or I may be without a tractor for a while. Shes a trooper but does need a little tender loving care every once in a while.

Thanks in advance,

9nforever

Hi! As Old9 said, The hood is the hard part! Be sure you have a bank roll set aside before you go down this road. The sectors and shaft cost quite a bit. You can wrap up four or five hundred dollars in this job replacing the sectors and shaft.

I have replaced them 2 times in 23 years. Not very hard, allow one day, get all parts , read the instructions before hand. Hardest part is getting hood off and on ( I always hate that part). Lots Of Luck and Merry Christmas joe
