I have enjoyed this board with the advice on getting my 8n up and running. I have been trying to get a final grade done on our new house in between working on the tractor, and dodging the freeze spells. But had the wife take pic of me and the boy on the tractor that he calls "TRAC" "TRAC" I guess it is going to be the tractors name :)

Thanks Brent

Hey Brent, save your self some grief in a few years and now leave plenty of dirt up against the house and pavement and anywhere they have been digging. Those excavations settle a lot. Keep plenty of dirt up there (and that means the water and ice and freeze out) and you"ll be way ahead in the long run. That dirt will settle like one-inch for every 5-inch of excavation.

Thanks for the advice, I two 10'x20' piles of top left that I was planning on bringing some up with bobcat this weekend and do some building up before I use the landscape rake if the weather holds out, I think I am running out of time, Southern Mich is crazy in first part of winter, I have had 2ft of snow on thanksgivin-day before and rode my motorcycle in Dec.
Thanks
Brent

Yeah you might be out of time. I heard something like 30" forecast for Flint starting tomorrow out of a clipper.

I heard that in the background so, and I"m hoping, I might be wrong but it is sure to be a nasty front and it"s a coming.

Now that everyone has driven home the safety issues re: tractor/child, it looks like your little 8N is missing the door for the hood, or am I just not seeing it in the picture? I might have an extra one, if your's is gone. Let me know. Gotta keep that old tractor ship shape for that little guy of yours. Jerry Marks

When Ben is your age he will treasure that pic. What I wouldn't give to have pics of me that age w/ Dad & Grandad.

Nice picture. Nice house and great little one. I agree with the fellow that said about the dangers of a young one on a tractor. I have a nearly two year old grandson that loves his Pop Pop's 8N. I let him sit on my knee on it but won't crank it with him on it. As he gets a little bigger you will have to keep an eye on him or he will be climbing on by himself. My grandson made it safely to the seat with Daddy on one side and Pop Pop on the other ready to catch him back a couple of months ago.

Please don't let that precious child ride on your tractor. No matter if you are pulling anything or not. Just let him watch you ride it. It doesn't take much for an accident to happen. I know this will be debated but, it only takes a second for something to go terribly wrong. I have 5 grandchildren that I know would love to ride with Grandpa, but I love them too much to let that happen.

I have thought that also, He has not rode with me but has rode with Grandpa on his cut and his enclosed tractor, I have heard many stories about children falling off, and this does make me worry about that happening. Point taken!
Thanks

No! Thank you and just keep that child safe and enjoy him for years to come. There is nothing more important than a Father and Son relationship. God Bless You.

Boy, Ben has a LOT of personality coming through those pictures! I especially like the one of him with his little "VTX"! Did you make that? If so -- you know you need to make him a little wooden TRAC, too! LOL Gee, it seems like just yesterday mine was that age. Enjoy every moment, Brent! It's the best ride in the world!

The blade did a great job smoothing out the top soil.

Thanks Bill,

Yes the small door will have to do until I can get TRAC his own private barn, not in this years budget :) :) and as far as the youngun goes I got my eye on a tractor just his size at TSC for Christmas. It's green like his Granpa's but thats ok! :)

You do know that TSC also sells a pedal tractor version of the 8N as well, right? I think they are really sharp!

The 8n pedal tractor is made in the USA by scale model toys and can be found at TSC or various web suppliers. Just do a google search.

Lee Valley Tools also has the 8N pedal tractor in their catalogue.

Seems my SO was planning to get one for me for our first GC (Lucy), but since I discovered 'the plan', it is 'toast'. Sheesh.

If you do buy a pedal "Trac" look around I"ve seen them posted anywhere from $165 to $250. I paid $185 for mine and am happy with it. Hopefully someday I"ll have a child to enjoy it.
