Hey guys, I have disassembled my starter to rebuild it (all brushes less than 1/4 inches, had no trouble with it before I started my total engine overhaul -bearing problem) I only have one question

What is the best way to R & R the field coil brushes (soldered at the connection)? I read in the archieves thet this connection is special, requires very high heat to R & R. Should I take it to a local starter/generator repair shop and let them do the field coil brushes?

thanks for the advice, Jim

You need one of those big fat soldering irons about 300 watts. Unless you know what you are doing, then take it to the shop..
Happy motoring
