I have seen restored 8n's that have the rear wheels gray and also some that paint them silver or aluminum. What is the correct color? Mine is a 52 model that I am restoring. All comments appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

The original rims were Silver Cadmium plated. Since a real Cadmium plating job would probably be astronomically expensive most restoration jobs will use a silver colored paint to give it the right "color". SouNdguy found a Cad paint in rattle cans when he was doing his restoration on his Allice G awhile back that looked pretty authentic...Tim

All of the N's had rear rims that were Cadmium plated. The silver/aluminum is closest in color and "looks correct". The ones that have rims painted the same color as the sheet metal were just done out of time/material savings to keep from having to buy more paint.

Note: the same thing applies to the spark plug wire tube (you don't have one of these, though) and the gas tank.
