The front rims on my 52 8n are rusted about 1/4-1/2 an inch away around the valve stems. Can this be reapaired? Also should I use 11.2-28 or 12.4-28 long bar tires on the rear. I will be pulling two-bottom plows, raking hay, etc. The front tires are 5.50 -16...should they be 6.00-16? This will be a working tractor...but I want it to look good, can you get a durable, nice finish from a spray can paint job or should I go for the real thing? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Just drill a new hole in a similar location and weld up and fill the old hole. 16" tires were optional on 8N's, dealer installed, and most did come with 5.50X16 but most loader equipped tractors used 6.00X16. The 11.2X28 is enough tire for the power of the N in most soils. Spray can paint jobs can look good but it takes a lot of cans and you can buy good paint to spray for less money and most likely will turn out to be a better appearing and more durable finish.

if you do weld your rims put a flap over the weld to avoid chafing the tube. cut up an old tube if nothing better comes to hand

lots of posts about how to prepare paint surface apply equally to rattle cans. if you use enough to do a good job a gallon may come cheaper

your mileage may vary
