Just wondering if anyone would tell me the proper head bolt torque and tightening sequence for a flat top 9n Ford Tractor. Thanks for any help you have.

Start in the middle center and work your way equally to the front & back of the engine. Stud nuts 50-55lbs torque & bolts 65-70 lbs torque. Retorque after an hour of run time at operating temp.

Hey Bruce...last week I followed your advice about retorquing a rebuilt engine after about an hour of run time...it was not easy to get to every bolt..(translation..some got done better than others)...do you normally remove the hood and gas tank?? also not easy...just curious, hope I won't be doing any of this for a long time now that it is back running...thanks, Rusty

i've always removed my hood to retorque, that way you can be sure that everything is the same..
i rigged a rope hoist up our forkliftand when all the bolts are out its real easy to take off
hint: don't have it full of gas when you go to do this, if its about empty rope under the tank directly behind the doglegs

Never had to remove the hood & gas tank. I guess a frontmount w/ the plug wire tube in place could be difficult, but my frontmount doesn't have one, so I can say for sure. I had no problems w/ my sidemounts. I don't recall even using a short extension.
