I have an 8N with an oil leak at the front of the oil pan. Is there anything special I need to know when I remove the oil pan to replace the gaskets?
I have a manual but I want to draw from the experience that is out there to see if there is anything else I need to do while I have the pan off. Thanks!

After draining the oil, leave the oil drain plug out until the pan is properly secured back onto the block and you are ready to add oil. I've found several tractors with screens that got jammed against the pick-up tube. Guess what that can cause: Bent or broken tubes and/or mashed screens.

Check the oil pump pickup tube for damage, cracks, or a poor solder job, while you're in there. You might want to check the oil pump gear/shaft for excessive play and put a kit in the pump, if needed.

Some prefer to use a modern one-piece seal at the front of the crankshaft. Information is in the Archives.
