Posted this on dec 13 2000 was hoping to get a reponse from MR ZANE. Here it is ,Was having trouble with the hydraulic pump on my 2n,a friend said why not cut a groove in the piston and put in a "O" ring like they use in the ram piston? Decided to try it, and pump works great.I don,t know the size of the groove that was cut or the diameter of the "O"ring but I have been using it for bushhogging aprox.4 months and seems to work ok.Has anyone else tried this? Thanks Big Yank. Well it is The end of Feb. and it still working fine. Oh yes I do have a "ZANE THANG" and it is well worth the money I spent for it ,wouldn't be without one . This old Florida Cracker has a lot of weeds and brush to cut. Thanks again Big Yank

I wonder if you could find teflon sealing rings in the proper size? I can't remember if you can machine parts out of teflon or not. Someone might be able to start a business out of this.

Why in the heck didn't I think of that????? ????

I don't know how long it will take to wear out the O ring but that definately is a good idea for an old pump that is worn out and needs to be replaced anyway.
If the bore of the pump cylinder was good and smooth I don't see why it wouldn't last a good while.
