There are a lot of ways to do it. Depends on which specific parts you choose to use. If you don't know how, it might be better to purchase one of the kits. It costs more than scrounging for "cheap" parts, but they have a wiring harness, all parts and instructions. If you choose to not use a "kit", then tell us what you will use, i.e which alternator, which coil, etc., and we can provide more detailed info.

A really great guy (thanks Larry)faxed me a copy of what parts and a hand drawn (very explicit) diagram in which I used just this past weekend to convert my 1947 2N to 12 volt. The most expensive part was the top bracket for the altenator. I have a front mount coil. You use a regular 12 volt automotive coil. It really isn't that difficult. If you want me to fax a copy (4 pages) to you, e-mail me and I willl be happy to send you them to you.
