First of all I want to thank all of you who helped me with getting my 2N started. It would not start and I kept on looking towards a fuel problem, but you wise folks pointed me to an electrical problem. After changing the cap, rotor, points, and plugs, she started right up.

I immediately went out and got a 7' grader blade for it. What a great implement. The problem I am having is that the lift does not bring the blade all the way up. If I help it up or drive a little it will eventually make it up. Once in the up position it will stay there. Any suggestions? What should I look at first?

Thanks.

Try the Zane kerosene trick. Drain the trans/hydro fluid and replace with 5 gals of kerosene. Run lift up and down for 5 min. Drain kerosene and let it stand for 30 mins. Refill the kerosene minus the gunk back into the resivoire. Run for another 5 to 10 mins. Drain the kerosene out completely and fill with trans / hydro fluid.

This helped my 2n.

Andy

2 likly causes.

1. The presure relief valve is leaking.
2. The ram is leaking.

Take the right side inspection plate off. Start the motor and lift the 3. with a load. If oil comes flowing down from the top, you need to R&R the ram. If you see a lot of turbulence on the oil surface, you need to replace the relief valve.

The procedure for both is in the manual. If you don't have one it is time to get one.

Poor performance with my lift on my 46 2N, sluggish or unresponsive lift, means low transhydraulic fluid.

My 2N's hydraulic pump will also knock while lifting if the fluid level drops.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ed. I had a similar thought. I drained the old fluid which look like it had water in it. It was a creamy color and replaced it with fresh fluid. Same result.
