Dan, Contrary to what my wife tells me, bigger IS better. As to HP, the only difference is how long it would take to pressurize the pot. The fuller the pot, the less time it takes. I bought one of Harbor freights 40# units and I wish I had gone bigger yet. I can usually get about 10 min out of a full pot, and it seem to take about that long to take off the hood and respirator and refill the pot for another run. It sure would be nice to finish a large piece (like a rear axle trumpet) without stopping in the middle to refill.Sidenote. I went to the trouble of building a sandblast "room" in my shop to use the blaster in. All seams were taped, put weatherseal on the door, used a 4HP shopvac for air cleaning, duct taped the whole thing to the floor, and the dust STILL got into my toolbox crescent wrenches and the beer in the fridge. That stuff gets EVERYWHERE! I wear coveralls, a hood, respirator, arm length rubber gloves and boots when I blast. After 20 min of blasting, I can pour the sand out of my jean pockets and my wallet. One last thing. Seriously consider a bench top unit for the small stuff. I was able to blast my manifold, dash, head, axle ends, and most everything else in the bench top without any mess at all. Hook up a small (2 gal) shopvac to the cabinet filter and you can blast away in a suit if you want. It sure is easier than suiting up to blast a few small pieces. My nickels worth- Scott
