How hard is it to remove the pump in my 49? I can't get the arms to move down - tried the diesel thing - figured that since it is winter and I've got nothing better to do - might as well pull the pump and make sure things are as they should be. My F-04 manual is 100 miles away (we're in the process of moving), so can't use it. I'm not planning to tear into it with out the manual - I'm just trying to find out what I'm in for. Thanks

Don't remove the pump just because the lift won't go down!

Your oil in the drive train probably has some moisture in it and the control valve is stuck.

Warm the tractor and thaw the oil out and it should work. If it does't then remove the right side inspection plate and wiggle the control rod to free up the control valve.

Drain all three places and refil it with 134 oil.

Be sure it is good and warm when you drain it.

Ok Zane - you're the master hydro man! I'll see if I can get it to work that way first.
thanks

Sorry about that, the 8N doesn't have the fork to worry about.

Not too big a deal. Drain fluid, remove pto shaft, remove side covers, disconnect fork from control valve, drop the pump.
