Noticed that the governor arm on my '51 has side-to-side slop. Is this normal (don't think so), and if not, is it corrected by addition of shims as shown in fo-4 manual, and, where can I get the shims?

Governor works fine, but I'm having trouble getting the idle to 400 RPM. Want's to stay at ~800 unless I goose the throttle.

Thanks in advance...gota go, Isabell's acomming...John A

Henry,
Make the shims yourself. Thin stock, such as from a hobby store. Once the governor is set, try this. Disconnect the governor to carburetor rod. Manually adjust the carburetor. Can you get it to 400RPM? If you can, you may need to adjust the carb linkage once you reassemble. The fact that you have to "goose" the throttle would seem to indicate that.
