I like a challenge, and I like to think that I'm fairly *wrenchy* ;)

Went out to the sellers barn tonight to get a handle on the electrical situation.... definite full tuneup and wire harness in order... she did crank over though.

The voltage regulator has only 3 posts and is marked: "Voltage Regulator 6 volts POS ground - D1303G". Anyone have any idea what this is?

Generator has 3 terminals; field and ground on the side, and an unmarked one on the end... 3 brush type?

tia,
jt

JT..... ...congrats on being proud owner of a frontmount 1949 8N.

The 3-wire genny ARM output is the BIG STUD on backplate of genny. It is the genny 6 volt output. It is NOT 3rd brush genny which has ONLY 1-wire output, understand?

As to wheather your 3-terminal p/n D1303G is acceptable replacement for 4-terminal p/n 8N-10505-C voltage regulator, I have NO IDEA.

The 4th terminal is sometimes the V/R mounting screw, which is the GROUND carried back from the barrel of the 3-wire genny. The other terminals are FLD, ARM, and BATT output..... ...Dell
