Last night my neighbor called me....he was away on a trip...his fancy Kubota with snoeblower was in his barn, could I take it and blow out the driveway?

I think a guys tractor is like his wife, you don't covet thee..... so I started up the N and went over. He had snowblowed his gravel driveway with the blower hanging a couple of inches over the ground. Of course over time, there was quite a buildup, and yesterday when the weather went above freezing, anyone in his driveway sunk into this previously hard packed snow.

This driveway is probably 300 yards long (yes that's not a misprint...300 yards!!) Three quick passes with the 2N (2nd gear high range) and it was right down to gravel. It was awesome. Today with it hitting close to 40, I think it will be bare when he gets home Sunday.

What fun....

Take Care

Do you guys do things like that for each other all the time? Personally there are very few people I know well enough to make that kind of call to.

Still, if it was a chance to legitimately use my 2N for something fun like plowing snow, I would plow for the highway department if they asked.

And if your neighbor is the bragging type, always saying his kubota is better than your N, my advice would be to break a shear pin on the snowthrower and tell him that the Kubota broke down in the first five feet, so you had to bring in a good tractor.

Have Fun, Ed

Most of the people in my neighborhood are country people...they aren't farmers, but grew up on one, or at least in the country. We watch each others back. And his Kubota is a nice tractor....I just think a guys tractor is not something you ever mess with. When my N breaks, I wanna be the one who did it....and if that Kubota breaks, I wouldn't wanna pay that bill....

Boy I wish I lived where you live. My neighbors are all Yuppies that are to high falutin to even wave when you drive by.unless you were broke down on the side of the road then they would wave without stopping.
Where is this wonderful place you call home?

You know it doesn't take long to figre out the good neighbors, we got our share of snobs too. But even some of the wealthy ones are nice people. I think the threat of a lawsuit is a thing that people bring on themselves....sometimes you gotta start being the good neighbor, and go from there. When we first moved out here, a few neighbors showed up with cookies, and stuff, just to introduce themselves, those that didn't I've made a point of stopping to see when they are working in their yard, or are out and about.

We have a neighborhood Xmas party every year....a real informal get together. And a few fridays in the summer, we have a "Pizza night" after work, everybody shows up, we order a few sheet pizzas, pass a hat, and BS the night away. The kids run around like a pack of wild dogs. It's great.

I know a lot of people miss the "Old Days", but then they don't even bother to instigate a relationship with their neighbors....sad.

Good Luck
Steve

PS....I do have a very large umbrella policy just in case....lol.
