I've repaired my 50 N's instrument panel where an old aftermarket electric hour meter was mounted. But lately I've been wondering about upgrading to a governor driven proofmeter and I don't think I've ever seen a replacement IP of either style for sale. Does anyone manufacture such a thing or would this have to be a salvage operation? If I did want to mount another electric hour meter I wouldn't want to modify the IP that I repaired. How have any of you mounted an electric meter? On the steering column? Cobbled up bracket? Any other ideas or pics would be welcome.

Proofmeter-ready panels show up on ebay occasionally.

Steve,
There is no where that says you must mount a hour meter in or on the dash. I am going to make a bracket and mount one at the oil filter housing using one of its bolts. I plan on putting a pressure switch over at the tee fitting at the back of the block, that way when there is oil pressure it closes the switch and the hr meter runs, if the key accidentally gets left on the meter won't run. It should be out of the way like that and when I check the oil I can see it right easy.

Good thought for an hour meter, but if the meter had a tach function I would like to be able to read it from the seat.
