12V Battery saga and questions ?

After you guys agreed that I have a bad battery I took it to Advance and had it tested. Their tester said "good battery, fully charged" My tester still says 10.5 volts even after 48 hours on the charger.

With all due respect to the Advance folks, I choose to believe my eyes and my N-board buds. "Battery bad, 10.5 volts"

My questions, Will I have any problems with a low bat. It starts easily and the lights are bright enough for my purposes. My only real concern is my 12v sprayer and winch, will it damage them to run them on 10.5 V ?

And why would the Advance tester disagree with our common sense conclusions?

Thanks in advance

Bert, I would make sure the "Voltage Sense" connection on the Alt is connected, with a loop of wire, to the big Output Term of the Alt. This connection turns "off" the Alt when the output goes above 14.5V.

If you have that Connection, and your Alt is charging, the Voltage for all your "Stuff" is correct and not coming from the Battery.

Hope This Helps,

Well, if it starts easily and Advance's tester said it is okay, I would respectfully question the accuracy of your tester. Verify your tester on a good 12 battery before buying a new battery. Just my 2 cents.
Best regards, Rlach

Thats a fair statement, but I have already confirmed my tester, actually 2 different testers. They both read all my other vehicle batterys as between 12.5 and 14 v.

Thats why its a mystery.

It might be the Advance 'tester' or the equipment he/she was using. Forget about it. Take those batteries to a generator shop or a battery place. I think Interstate Battery is in a lot of places and they should know their business. These chain autoparts stores are not the best place for testing and repairs.
You don't want to run your stuff on low voltage. It will ruin em. It will run them hot and shorten their life.
