I have a 47 2n that will lift a bush hog about 6" off the ground. It will lift me 170# all the way up. I have honed the cylinder and installed a new NAA piston and rings, and replaced the pressure relief valve, didn't seem to change. I pulled the pump and checked it, all the parts look new with little or no wear. What I did find was the chamber gasket was blown out on both sides at the top plugs. So now I am in a quandry as I really don't want to ever pull the pump again. Should I just replace the gaskets or buy the rebuild kit for the pump. There is a price difference to consider of about $350.00. I did see a swirl in the oil and I have inspected the pump for cracks and it is in good condition. Also the chamber bolts were not hard to break loose, slightly more than hand tight. I would really like some input on this and I appreciate all answers, thanks in advance to all, you all have helped me through some scrapes just by reading the post. Thanks again, Buckeye.

Since the pump chamber gasket was blown it is a very good possibility that this was the problem with the weak lift.

I would buy the gasket kit and put it back together. Of course I would pull the valves out and make sure that the springs are all good. You can buy the valve kits on the internet and they are very reasonable priced.
