A number of recent post on Hyd. oil, recommended
M2C 134 D. My local dealer didn't have it, so he talked me into five gallons of Hydralic Fluid, ESM-M2C-134-B.C. Is it as good, not as good, no good?

Like Adamp said.. the original spec for the oil was a 90wt mineral oil.

Ford / NH has went thru many spec changes, and the last one was 134d.. loks as though you have a previous spec.. which should work.

Some find that if they have a 'tired' lift.. the thicker original oil bandaids it a bit.. might also prevent marginal seals from leaking... kinda like using a sae 40 oil inthe engine, when oil pressure starts to drop low on the sae 30.. etc.

I personally like the original spec 90wt oil in mine.. And I can find it locally at TSC stores. Some have reported that in certain parts of the US, the 90wt mineral oil is just not to be found.. in that case you are stuck using the 134d / or equivalent ( many manufacturers universal hy-tran oils meet the 134 spec... etc )

Just a comfort level thing.

In any case, stay away from the 80w90 ep gl-5 gear oils.. it has been discussed that the ep addatives aren't nice to the hydraulic pump innards.

Well, I have an arrangement with a fellow (professionally speaking" the term fellow is a name given to certain individuals in the scientific field.

This fellow puts the drainings from the older tractor trannies in my 5-gal/ container.

I re-cycle the old stuff and use same in our equipment. Therefore, we call the used "new" lubricants "REclaimed FROM GOOD EQUIPMENT".

Hope this knowledge helps in the areas where the good ole stuff cannot be got, nomore.

Yes it will work, But, you may find it to thin for your seals. The proper fluid to use is GL1 spec 90w mineral oil. If you look to the left under research and info, and select articals you will find that Llamas has also written a wonderful longform on the subject under the maintenance section and it is titled Ford 9N 2N 8N tractor fluids.
I got mine (5 Gal) from NAPA for 23 dollars and it is NAPA part # 65-205
