Can anyone help me? I have a early 1940 9N serial No. *9N16734* that is missing the cast alum. dash. I bought a beatup 1941 cast metal dash that I am ready to restore for my 1940. Can anyone send me a few photos of an early 40 9N dash so I can install the key switch, ignition light & headlight switch in the correct locations, also if there are any other holes that should be in the dash for other accessories.(i will be welding shut the holes in the 41 dash that are not used). I recently bought a 9N restoration book, but the photos only showed dashs for 1939 & 1941.
Thanks.

My 1940 9N is s/n 15015 and the keyswitch was always located on the right side.

From the N-Newsletter, volume 2, summer issue:

The 1940 has 3 different arrangement for the key switches:

Starter button in dash, key on lower right side to serial #12500, except 10732, 11148, 11400, 11470, 11497, 12142, 12400, 12484, 12490, 12492, 12497, and 12499, which had starter button in transmission with key on lower right side. Key switch went to the steering column at s/n 76000.

Just one question on that lube line from the test port... doesn't your 3pt arms have to be chained down to get pressure at the test port?

Ok, more questions.. everyone here says that to use the test port for pressure, ( i.e. to drive an external cylinder ) the 3pt arms have to be chained down... yet you say you are getting oil from the port without affecting your 3pt operation?

Thanks for the photo.

Choke knob is below oil pressure gauge. Red ignition light is below amp guage. Light switch to the right of red ignition switch.

The key should be on the lower left side of the dash below the hood to dash bolt where your knee hits if you slide front on the seat, the ignition light is straight below the ammeter and the light switch is between the ignition light and the column, a 1941 also has a wider center column where the patent plate is than what a 1940 used.

Thanks for the reply.

Just the choke rod. The key was moved from the lower right side of the dash to the lower left side at 15000 something serial# I believe.
