Inspecting Sherman

I just got a sherman combination unit and have a couple questions.
When inspecting it not installed, How much endplay shoud the output shaft have? Mine Has about 1/8" to 1/4". All the bearings are in great shape.
I can post pictures if needed.

The Sherman Output shaft end play is set when you install the trans.Its gonna be sloppy when the trans is out.Look inside the gear on the very back outside of the trans and you will see a tapered race this mates with a timken bearing inside the tractors trans.You need to shim the trans properly when installing it, Too loose is not good, too tight and the bearing and possiably the race portion of the gear will be damaged. Locktite the 4 bolts that hold the adapter plate on also as I have seen these come loose. Get a manual and study the shimming procedure for setting end play on the input shaft(the sherman replaces the imput shaft)....Big Mike....check out the Smiths page on aux trans also
