It looks different than the drive on my starter and was wondering if this is the new improved positive starter drive everyone is talking about.

the drive type is called a 'Folo-thru' with the BELL as some of the old guys call it behind the gear, and a rubber cushion at the pin end, instead of the damper spring. Your drive is probably made in india, as FACET has given up the drive business for old equipment. The bendix that Dell refers to is the one with the 'spiral notebook' spring. They work as long as they NEVER get hot, or abused

Bill..... ....most N-Tractor parts emporiums list and sell'em, buttcha gotta ask ferr'em. Hint: slightly more expensive than the replacement Bendix drive which is NOT the same. about $50.

The improved "clutch" drive doesn't kick out engagement with a 1-cough hard start cold morning start-up. It takes about 300 engine rpms to kick-it out, 300 rpms is generally a running engine..... ...Dell
