Only 1941 9Ns have solid center bar griles. All 2Ns came out with the slotted center bar grile.

Was the year that the solid center bar was designed for the 9N/ This design changed near the end of the 1941 model year to the cutout center section carried through 1952-53 8N model.

9N's in the mid to late 1941 year had the cutout section. 2N's primarily had the center cutout section. And, as usual with Ford design and collecting there seems not to be a defined date when the cutout appeared and when the solid section ended. Parts were used up as parts supplies either were full or waned. And then, there are the replacement and repair factors as grills were damaged and replaced, later model versions were installed by the owner.

It is safe to say that the center section cutout version is primarily a 9N/2N design and later 8N. Solid center section - 9N, and aluminum grilles 9N.
